Bachelors & Baskets for American Cancer Society

BillTogether with millions of supporters, the American Cancer Society (ACS) saves lives and creates a world with less cancer.

Everyone will be affected by cancer at some point in their life, but that doesn’t mean we should stop the fight. The American Cancer Society wants you to help Kick Cancer at the 2012 Party for a Cure. Enjoy a live bachelor auction, raffle prizes, silent auctions and a live DJ, with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society to support cancer research and awareness. Bid on the gift basket we donated for the silent auction and if you’ve got the cash, you could land yourself a date with Bill McAdams, NW Empire’s most eligible bachelor. Join us on May 18th at the Aura Restaurant & Lounge and help support our efforts with the American Cancer Society.

Saving Wings With The Audubon Society of Portland

Our Birds! The Audubon Society of Portland promotes the understanding, enjoyment, and protection of native birds and other wildlife as well as their natural habitats. They focus on our local community and the beautiful Pacific Northwest. NW Empire is privileged to currently sponsor two of our feathered friends in the need:

Finnegan the Peregrine Falcon was born with a bad foot, making it hard for him to hunt in the wild. In 2000, he was moved to the Audubon Wildlife Care Center where he was able to get the help he needed. If you look carefully, you might be able to spot some of Finnegan’s family nesting on the Fremont Bridge. Falcon Fact: Peregrine Falcons are the fastest animals on the planet, able to dive at speeds in excess of 200 MPH!

Ruby is a Turkey Vulture that was found alone, wandering the streets of McMinnville. Domesticated and completely unprepared for life in the wild, she was abandoned by her owners and left to fend for herself. Fortunately, support from members like NW Empire helped the Audubon Society give Ruby a new home and a new life. Ruby is now an official Audubon education bird, helping us learn more about this beautiful species. Vulture Vittles: Ruby, like all vultures, is a scavenger bird, which means she primarily eats dead animals left behind by other predators. As much as we love Ruby, we won’t be having lunch with her any time soon.

Rapping it up for CAP

ArtIt is estimated that over 1 million people in the United States are living with HIV and AIDS, with over 50,000 new cases every year. The Cascade Aids Project is dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV in our local communities through education and prevention. In 2011 alone, CAP provided more than $871,000 in direct assistance to this monumental effort.

On April 28, 2012 CAP held their 12TH Annual Art Auction, with over 250 donated works of art and 1,000 honored guests. Northwest Empire Community Management was excited to participate in this event. You might have seen some of our smiling faces as we helped direct guests to their seats and prepared the auctioned art for the journey to a new home. This year, we helped the 23rd Annual CAP Art Auction raise $570,000. Don’t worry if you missed the auction, CAP has many more great events planned for 2012 and we’re already laced up and ready for the AIDS Walk Portland. Come on out and take a stroll with us for a good cause.

Volunteering with PAL at the LPGA Safeway Classic

GolfThe Police Activities League of Greater Portland provides safe, supervised after-school programs for at-risk youth in our local communities.

In 2011, Northwest Empire Community Management volunteered with the Police Activities League at the LPGA Safeway Classic. Through the support of volunteers like us, PAL was able to raise over $70,000 to help fund their programs. NW Empire Community Management is already looking forward to helping PAL again at the 2012 LPGA Tournament.
